Steveston Buddhist Temple 2019 Golf Tournament Held on July 6, was Once Again a Great Success and Lots of Fun!!
Luckily the rain held off and it was a very pleasant day. We had 76 golfers and raised over $ 7,500 for the Temple (both are record numbers).
The winning team was the foursome of Shinji Kamata, Ako Motohashi, Eiko Tashiro, and Mike Nakanishi with a score of 7 under. The team of Mary Murao, Kaz Yoneda, Elaine Tsumura and Mary Nishi won the most colorful team (the Judge was our photographer Ted Akune and he admitted he accepted a nigiri as a bribe!!). The Ikuta and Hirata teams looked great in their coordinated outfits. Isao Kuramoto won the men’s closest to the pin and Eiko Tashiro won the ladies. For the longest drive Majorie Bungay won the ladies and Elaine Tsumura won the senior ladies. For the men Royce Nishi was the winner and Ricky Yodogawa won the senior men long drive.
The putting contest was won by Frances Nakanishi (she holed 2 out of 3 balls). And the lost ball count of 63 lost balls was won by Dave Yoshida (note for next year 63 lost balls for 76 players!!).
