Yoga at the Temple

We are very happy to be able to offer yoga at our temple.

Ms. Alanna McConnell, who is the granddaughter to Mr. & Mrs. Hayao and Tomiko Sakai,  has quite an extensive career in teaching Yoga, having taught for over 11 years. She has a Bachelor’s of Science in Food, Nutrition and Health and is also certified by the British Columbia Recreation and Parks Association to lead group fitness classes and work with older adults. She used to lead a falls prevention fitness class at Rosewood Manor, and used to run her own Yoga studio in the Minato shopping complex.

Hatha Yoga  A gentle yoga practice suitable for all levels. We will explore breathing techniques and a variety of lying, standing, seated and kneeling yoga poses. Each class will conclude with deep relaxation.

Power Yoga  A strenuous, challenging type of yoga class (modifications will be provided). Our classes involve flowing movements combined with deeper holds and concludes with deep relaxation. (Subject to sufficient sign-up)

Chair Yoga  Our chair classes are suitable for all levels and ideal for those who have difficulty sitting or kneeling on the ground. We work through a variety of poses aimed at improving range of motion and focused on improving posture. This class is by donation to the Temple.
